1st Grade Newsletter 2024

The first grade class is busy learning all kinds of things.  We have 13 boys and 11 girls in our class.  We love learning about God’s love for us.  He created each one of us so special and unique.  Memory work is something that we started recently, memorizing God’s Commandments and Bible verses each week.

We are so excited as we are learning how to read!   We practice reading everyday. We listen to our 7th grade Reading Buddies every other week while they read us stories.  Now, we are proud to be reading to them.

We have been counting the days of school and are anxiously awaiting the 100th day of school. We are almost there!  Zero the Hero comes to visit us on each decade day (10, 20, etc) and brings some kind of circular treat (crackers, grapes, etc).

Science is a class favorite- We completed a unit in Air and Weather by constructing wind vanes, anemometers, and parachutes.  We also have done many STEM challenges using a wide variety of supplies.

We love getting on the bus and going on field trips.  We watched “Spookley” at Stages Theater earlier this year.  We also traveled to the Mill City Museum in St. Paul to learn about wheat and the process of it being made into bread.  We also enjoyed a Christian illusionist at Mayer Lutheran during Lutheran Schools Week.

We look forward to going to the Arboretum in the spring.

Each day is a great opportunity to show kindness to the people around us. We challenge you to do something kind for someone today!

God’s Blessings to you!
